Hydrographic Data
CalCOFI has collected hydrographic & fisheries data off California since 1949. From 1949-1992, CalCOFI deployed an array of hydrographic bottles to collect seawater. In 1993, CalCOFI adopted a Seabird 911+ CTD; 1m data are available from 1993-present
Methods
Over the 75+ years CalCOFI Time-Series has collected data, the seagoing data collection follows established oceanographic protocols. Methods established by the primary investigators are documented here.
Metadata/Timeline
Over the course of 75+ years, methods and gear have evolved. CalCOFI strives to maintain continuity with the legacy data in the time-series. In 2004, metadata collection and archiving became part of the data archives.
